Liora Rosenberg - September 2018

Sunday 2nd September 2018 saw the dedication of a new Rapid response Ambulance for Hatzola Northwest purchased with funds raised by Mr & Mrs Stuart Rosenberg through various campaigns and to perpetuate the memory of their daughter Liora a”h who passed away in 2016 at the age  of 20. The new vehicle - slightly more compact and versatile - is a perfect addition to the fleet of three existing frontline ambulances, generously donated by The Wohl Foundation. It will primarily be used to cut down response time during the day and as a first response vehicle by the members on night duty, enabling Hatzola to cut down response times, as well as providing direct onward transport for their patients, without additional delay.

The  ambulance was the result of a conversation that Mrs Rosenberg had with her late daughter Liora a”h shortly before she died. She was asked by her mother what she would do if she ever won the lottery and her response “I would buy an ambulance for Hatzola….. !”. Sadly she was niftar only a few days later. Her parents subsequently set out on a  mission to  fulfil her dream, by raising awareness, online campaigns and even with their youngest daughter Miri, selling sweets in her school to help with the fundraising.

The dedication event and unveiling of the new Ambulance took place at Hendon United Synagogue (Raleigh Close Shul), where the Rosenberg’s are members and have a close connection with the Rov, Rabbi Mordechai Ginsbury shlit”a who has been a source of great inspiration and chizuk for the entire family.

At the dedication event, prior to the unveiling of the new ambulance, Chairman of Hatzola Northwest, Shloimie Richman introduced the father Mr Stuart Rosenberg, who spoke emotionally about his daughter and her beautiful and loving character and how she brought joy and warmth to everyone she met. He elaborated on the bittersweet emotions of bringing her dream to fruition with the new ambulance, whose function would be to provide help and assistance to those in need in a caring and compassionate way – just as Leora would have wanted.

Rabbi Ginsbury elaborated on the posuk in Tehillim “Be’orcho Nir’eh Oir”, which translates “By your light, may we see light”. He explained that whilst this is essentially a reference to Hashem’s light, the concept is one that we can apply where a person is able to continue their life mission after they are no longer here to personally achieve it, is incredible and that with the new ambulance, Liora’s light continues to shine.

Although not directly related to the event, a brief presentation was made to one of the retiring Shabbos Crew and the new ambulance was then unveiled by Mrs Rosenberg and her daughters, in the presence of all the guests and various dignitaries, including the Metropolitan Police Borough Commander Simon Rose.

Testimonials

"We would like to thank you for your efficient service provided by your organisation. We were impressed by the speed they arrived and attended to my wife who had a fall."

"When my husband was taken ill, your medics arrived promptly. The crew were very friendly, kind and super efficient. I have used your service before and feel privileged to be able to do so."

"I am writing to say how very grateful I am for your volunteers who took me to the RFH.

They were so caring and professional and I was attended to much quicker because they had brought me into hospital."

"I used Hatzola a week and a half ago after cutting my thumb with a rather sharp and serrated kitchen knife. Everybody from the lady on the phone to the 2 medics that attended, helped me feel calm and I knew I was in safe hands. Being 32 weeks pregnant with my first child I was getting a bit nervous as there was a lot of blood but the medics calmly dressed it and told me to go to hospital to get it glued."

"I feel very honoured to be part of a community where we are so well looked after, especially by the staff at Hatzola who are walking Angels and true examples of being selfless. An incredible organisation, efficient and well organised. Will be a priority of my charity from now on...."

"Please send a big thank you to everyone who was involved in getting me to hospital on Shabbat two/three weeks ago. I became very suddenly unwell and in extreme pain. I cannot thank you enough for coming so quickly, efficiently and kindly to my assistance."

"I was very very unwell last Erev Shabbos and had absolutely no choice but to call Hatzola 40 min before Shabbos. The volunteers were with us within 3 minutes, selflessly helping and assisting in every way possible with highest professionalism and Mesiras Nefesh. The ambulance was then called and I was taken to the A&E of the RFH. We were at the RFH within 10 minutes. All 4 people were absolutely amazing and a huge Yashar Koach to all of them, Brachah V’Hatzlahah."

"We cannot thank you enough for coming to our home on Friday night to care for our son, and take us to hospital. The members and crew were wonderful, caring and reassuring and made us feel much better in what was a very stressful situation Thank you from the bottom of our hearts."

"I just wanted to say thank you to Hatzola for attending to me on motzai shabbos for a minor incident. The level of care and skill was absolutely exemplary and is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for taking time to help people in the community at all times."

"I would just like to really thank you for the professional care you gave me when I was in need. I appreciate the fact that you showed complete dedication, with utmost care and concern to help me, even if it wasn’t life threatening. May you only need to be busy with taking well people to hospital to have babies! wishing the whole organization continued Hatzlocho."
