Community Training Event - October 2018

A venture to teach life saving first aid to members of the public, was initiated several years back with enormous success. To date, we have trained over 1200 members of the public as well as over 500 secondary school children and with more sessions in the pipeline. Hatzola Northwest is indebted to volunteer Eli Grossnass for organising these training sessions

For Eli, the catalyst was an incident that took place in the Peak District where a father suffered a cardiac arrest. His 16-year old son had received basic life-support training in his school and recognising the seriousness of his father's symptoms, commenced CPR, effectively. There is no doubt that the son's ability to both comprehend what was happening and then implement what he had been taught, quickly, were key to his father's survival.

The first few minutes of every incident can make the difference between life and death. Hatzola Northwest's lead trainer, Kevin Cuddon, has each time provided a team of paramedic trainers from the London Ambulance Service and nothing but praise from the attendees for the trainers' attention to detail, professionalism and ability to explain everything in a very clear and concise manner. For their part, the trainers themselves expressed astonishment and admiration at seeing what a deep-routed sense of community prevails in the area.

If you have not yet attended one of these sessions, you are urged to do so. To register your interests for a future session please email admin@hatzolanw.org

Testimonials

"We would like to thank you for your efficient service provided by your organisation. We were impressed by the speed they arrived and attended to my wife who had a fall."

"When my husband was taken ill, your medics arrived promptly. The crew were very friendly, kind and super efficient. I have used your service before and feel privileged to be able to do so."

"I am writing to say how very grateful I am for your volunteers who took me to the RFH.

They were so caring and professional and I was attended to much quicker because they had brought me into hospital."

"I used Hatzola a week and a half ago after cutting my thumb with a rather sharp and serrated kitchen knife. Everybody from the lady on the phone to the 2 medics that attended, helped me feel calm and I knew I was in safe hands. Being 32 weeks pregnant with my first child I was getting a bit nervous as there was a lot of blood but the medics calmly dressed it and told me to go to hospital to get it glued."

"I feel very honoured to be part of a community where we are so well looked after, especially by the staff at Hatzola who are walking Angels and true examples of being selfless. An incredible organisation, efficient and well organised. Will be a priority of my charity from now on...."

"Please send a big thank you to everyone who was involved in getting me to hospital on Shabbat two/three weeks ago. I became very suddenly unwell and in extreme pain. I cannot thank you enough for coming so quickly, efficiently and kindly to my assistance."

"I was very very unwell last Erev Shabbos and had absolutely no choice but to call Hatzola 40 min before Shabbos. The volunteers were with us within 3 minutes, selflessly helping and assisting in every way possible with highest professionalism and Mesiras Nefesh. The ambulance was then called and I was taken to the A&E of the RFH. We were at the RFH within 10 minutes. All 4 people were absolutely amazing and a huge Yashar Koach to all of them, Brachah V’Hatzlahah."

"We cannot thank you enough for coming to our home on Friday night to care for our son, and take us to hospital. The members and crew were wonderful, caring and reassuring and made us feel much better in what was a very stressful situation Thank you from the bottom of our hearts."

"I just wanted to say thank you to Hatzola for attending to me on motzai shabbos for a minor incident. The level of care and skill was absolutely exemplary and is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for taking time to help people in the community at all times."

I appreciate the fact that you showed complete dedication, with utmost care and concern to help me, even if it wasn’t life threatening.
