New Responders - January 2022

After an intense training period Hatzola Northwest inaugurated eight new responders to their Emergency Response Team. The members started training in 2021, dedicating many hours every week to gain their knowledge and learning, with weekly assessments, practical scenarios and examination of their pre-hospital emergency care skills.

This training program led by Kevin Cuddon - Hatzola Northwest Clinical Lead, Advanced Paramedic Practitioner for London Ambulance Service and was enhanced by external lecturers and practitioners, brought in to lecture within their specialised areas and to give the trainees a broader knowledge of different areas of emergency medicine.

The evening was attended by Hatzola Medical Director Professor Stuart Rosen, Chairman Shloimie Richman, Rafi Weisz Trainee Program Coordinator, members of the central committee, operations manager David Vincent and Mr Laurence Blitz representing the trustees.

The new responders were presented with certificates and equipment and will now join the rest of the volunteers as full active responders. This group were the first to receive the latest rollout of the medical trauma and equipment bags, which have been two years in development and were designed to comply with all the latest requirements and legislation.

The new bag initiative was inspired and kick-started by Mr & Mrs Sammy Korc to show appreciation to Hatzola for coming to the rescue of their son Akiva during a choking episode. They raised the necessary funds privately and within the community and a large number of additional bags have also been dedicated by members of the community. Sammy and his wife Abi attended the evening and were there for the bag distribution.

The wives of the new recruits joined the evening and received words of thanks and support from the Chairman and Medical Director who welcomed them to the Hatzola family and thanked them for their ongoing support and for their commitment to helping others.

Testimonials

"We would like to thank you for your efficient service provided by your organisation. We were impressed by the speed they arrived and attended to my wife who had a fall."

"When my husband was taken ill, your medics arrived promptly. The crew were very friendly, kind and super efficient. I have used your service before and feel privileged to be able to do so."

"I am writing to say how very grateful I am for your volunteers who took me to the RFH.

They were so caring and professional and I was attended to much quicker because they had brought me into hospital."

"I used Hatzola a week and a half ago after cutting my thumb with a rather sharp and serrated kitchen knife. Everybody from the lady on the phone to the 2 medics that attended, helped me feel calm and I knew I was in safe hands. Being 32 weeks pregnant with my first child I was getting a bit nervous as there was a lot of blood but the medics calmly dressed it and told me to go to hospital to get it glued."

"I feel very honoured to be part of a community where we are so well looked after, especially by the staff at Hatzola who are walking Angels and true examples of being selfless. An incredible organisation, efficient and well organised. Will be a priority of my charity from now on...."

"Please send a big thank you to everyone who was involved in getting me to hospital on Shabbat two/three weeks ago. I became very suddenly unwell and in extreme pain. I cannot thank you enough for coming so quickly, efficiently and kindly to my assistance."

"I was very very unwell last Erev Shabbos and had absolutely no choice but to call Hatzola 40 min before Shabbos. The volunteers were with us within 3 minutes, selflessly helping and assisting in every way possible with highest professionalism and Mesiras Nefesh. The ambulance was then called and I was taken to the A&E of the RFH. We were at the RFH within 10 minutes. All 4 people were absolutely amazing and a huge Yashar Koach to all of them, Brachah V’Hatzlahah."

"We cannot thank you enough for coming to our home on Friday night to care for our son, and take us to hospital. The members and crew were wonderful, caring and reassuring and made us feel much better in what was a very stressful situation Thank you from the bottom of our hearts."

"I just wanted to say thank you to Hatzola for attending to me on motzai shabbos for a minor incident. The level of care and skill was absolutely exemplary and is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for taking time to help people in the community at all times."
